Obituary for Helen (Sokol) Barry
Helen (Sokol) Barry, age 78 of Stratford, beloved wife of the late John F. Barry, passed away Thursday, August 24, 2017 in Bridgeport Hospital. Mrs. Barry was born November 19, 1938 in Olyphant, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Anthony and Victoria (Murawski) Sokol and had been a longtime Stratford resident.Â
Helen was a graduate of Butler Business School, and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, and was a woman of strong faith.
Survivors include her three daughters, Mary Lou Leary of Milford, Judith Weldon and her husband Brian of Stratford and Michele Angeski and her husband Daniel of Stratford; seven grandchildren, EJ Leary and his wife Stacey, Sarah Leary and her companion Eric Giordano, Stephanie Leary and her companion Harry Stanley, John Cannizzio and his wife Melissa, Brian Cannizzio and his wife Kelly, Alivia Barry and her companion Spencer Law, and Bailey Angeski; five great grandchildren, Chelsea and Jake Leary, John, Riley and Oliver Cannizzo; two siblings, Chester Sokol and his wife Mary and William Sokol and his companion Anita Kopchinski; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Our Lady of Grace Church, 497 Second Hill Lane., Stratford. Interment will follow in Kings Highway Cemetery, Milford.
Friends may visit with her family Tuesday morning before Mass time from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St., Stratford.
