Obituary for Agnes (McGuire) Taft
TAFT - Agnes (McGuire) Taft, age 69, of Stratford, beloved wife of the late William Taft, passed away Monday, June 9, 2014 in Bridgeport Hospital surrounded by her family. Mrs. Taft was born July 3, 1944 in Greenock, Scotland, daughter of the late John and Susan (Clarke) McGuire and had been a Stratford resident for the last 40 years. Agnes loved to read, cook and travel with her sisters. She also loved her job at Pulmonary and Internal Medicine, but the joy of her life was her grandchildren. Survivors include her son, Joseph Taft and his wife Sherry of Stratford; her daughter, Lisa Otero and her husband Rigoberto of Stratford; three sisters, Cecilia Matyasovszky of Stratford, Bernadette Schirillo of Stratford and Margaret Potkay of West Haven; three grandchildren, Susan Taft, William Taft and Campbell Taft; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, William McGuire. Friends are invited to attend her funeral service on Friday June 13, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main Street, Stratford and at 10:30 a.m. in Saint James Church, Stratford for a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Saint Michael’s Cemetery, Stratford.
