Obituary for Albert E. DeRubis Jr.
Albert E. DeRubis Jr., age 59 of Stratford, beloved husband of Beatriz (Veltze) DeRubis passed away Monday, July 13, 2020 in Bridgeport Hospital, Mr. DeRubis was born April 23, 1961 in Stamford, son of the late Albert E. and Barbara (Gagnon) DeRubis Sr. and had been a long time Stratford resident.
Al was a popular bus driver for the Greater Bridgeport Transit Authority. He was an avid NY Mets Fan, enjoyed watching his Rocky movies and listening to the Beatles. He loved ice cream and Italian food. He was good at bowling and board games, and he especially enjoyed Scrabble. He loved the family dog, Cutie Pie, who often slept in his lap while he watched baseball or read his Bible.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Alicia DeRubis.
Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. in Saint James Church, 2070 Main St., Stratford. Due to state guidelines, masks and social distancing are required.
Interment will follow in Saint Michael’s Cemetery, Stratford.
