Obituary for Alexander Bondaruk
Alexander Bondaruk, age 85, of Stratford, beloved companion of Dorothy Claus, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2018 in Bridgeport Hospital.
Mr. Bondaruk was born July 16, 1932 in Bridgeport, son of the late Samuel and Mary (Sapp) Bondurak and had been a lifetime area resident.
Al was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War and was a retired engineer for Dupont and Remington Arms. Known to his family and friends as ‘Big Al”, he was an avid NY Yankee and NY Giant Fan and loved dancing and was a Great Storyteller. Al will be Greatly missed by all: Everyone Loved Al.
Survivors, in addition to Dorothy, include his daughter, Heidi Kikosicki and her husband Vincent, three stepchildren, Debbie Henning and her husband Mike, Frank Claus and his wife Peggy and Tom Claus and his wife Sue; twelve grandchildren, Vincent, Lynn, Amanda, Michael, Lowell, Tiffany, Justin, Carlee, Jason, Lindsay, Allison and Emily; four great-grandchildren, Gloriana, Brooklyn, Travis and Landon and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by three brothers, John, Samuel and George Bondaruk and three sisters, Katherine Duban, Mary Hartenett and Lydia Chueka.
In lieu of flowers, Donations in his memory may be made to the family to help assist in expenses.
Friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Monday, February 26 2018 at 9:00 a.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St., Stratford and at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Assumption Church, 545 Stratfield Rd, Fairfield for a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by father Peter Cipriani.
Interment with military honors will follow in Saint Michael’s Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may visit with the family Sunday afternoon from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
