Obituary for Allen Joseph Roy
Allen Joseph Roy, age 87, of Stratford, beloved husband of the late Barbara (Smith) Roy, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Roy was born August 20, 1935 in Bridgeport, son of the late Joseph and Helen (Luksa) Roy and had been a lifelong area resident.
He was a United States Army Veteran and was a retired driver for Gallo Wines and worked for the Stratford Brakettes organization, collecting tickets and greeting all of the fans and teams for over 40 years. He also did the same for Stratford High School Athletics and was a school crossing guard. He built great relationships with local kids through his work with Stratford Little League and many of his previous players still talk about him to this day. His love for travel took him around the world and these memories stuck with him until the end.
Survivors include his daughter, Robyn McHale and her husband Brian of Stratford; five grandchildren, Ashley Conder and her husband Stephen, Shannon Navarro and her husband Tyler, Courtney McHale and her fiancé, Brendan Hegarty, Matthew Roy and Kayleigh Roy; three great-grandchildren, Jeremy Conder, Brooklyn Conder and Peyton Navarro; one sister, Rose Ann Tremo of Florida and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son, Craig A. Roy.
Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service celebrated by Deacon John Piatak on Tuesday April 4, 2023, at 11:15 a.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St., Stratford. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Bridgeport. Friends may visit with the family on Monday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
