Obituaries
Serving Our Community Since 1951Anna retired at the age of 89 after 51 years as a dedicated employee from Walgreens Drug Store. She was well known and loved by her fellow staff members, as well as many of her customers, many of whom knew her by name.
After retirement, Anna loved reading books in her free time, was very active in her community, and enjoyed time with others at church activities.
Anna loved being surrounded by all her loved ones. Her home was full of pictures in beautiful frames, ranging from relatives as young children to her own children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren encompassing their childhood, weddings and Christenings.   She was a very proud mother and grandmother who treated all family as equals and never missed sending personalized cards on holidays and every special occasion.  She always included inspiring words of wisdom and gratitude, reminding them how much she loved, cherished and enjoyed them and was fortunate to have them in her life.
She truly lived as a one-of-a-kind individual. Anna was very sweet, had an amazing judgement-free lifestyle, took pride in living life in a simplistic manner and never spoke an unkind word. Her pure heart and soul are qualities her family found to be above and beyond.
Survivors include her two sons, William C. Wilson and his wife Susan of Stratford and David E. Wilson and his wife Linda of Southbury; six grandchildren, Lynn Wilson, Mary Gould, Sandra Owen, Karen Milligan, Jenea Wilson, and Jason Wilson; eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Lewis and William H. Harrison and three sisters, Fannie Pearl Hicks, Sadie J. Hart and Hazel Duncan, whom she shared many lifetime memories and loved speaking to on the phone once she moved away from her hometown.
Friends are invited to attend her funeral service officiated by the Reverend Edward Rawls on Monday, March 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St., Stratford. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may visit with her family Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the Funeral Home.
Anna's family would like to thank her caregiver, Maria for all the kind and loving care she had given her over the years.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to either the St. Jude Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or The First Congregational Church of Stratford, 2301 Main St., Stratford, CT 06615.
