Annabel (Heuer) Hasselman, age 95, of Stratford, beloved wife of the late Belmont Hasselman, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2018 in the Hewitt Memorial Nursing facility, Shelton. Mrs. Hasselman was born April 15, 1922 in St Louis, Missouri, daughter of the late George and Myrtle (Stemler) Heuer and had been a Stratford resident since 1942.
Annabel was a devoted caretaker to many children over the years, (too many to mention) many of whom stayed close with her throughout their lives. She also worked at Pictures & Bowls Ceramic Studio in Stratford for many years, was a member of the Baldwin Center and loved to play cards with the Our Lady of Peace Ivy Leaguers.
She is survived by her lifelong friends, Luanne Sciongay and her husband Eugene and Sue Figlar; her adapted grandsons, Shane Sciongay, Jarrett Sciongay and his wife Cynthia and Jamie Bachman and his wife Tiffany and great grandchildren, Cadence, JJ and Rylan.
Friends are invited to attend a funeral service officiated by Reverend Jeff Lukens on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St., Stratford. Calling hours will be from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. before service time. Interment in Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield will be private.
