Obituary for Anne Regina (Begley) Gallagher
Anne Regina (Begley) Gallagher, age 90, beloved wife of the late John J. Gallagher, Jr. passed away Thursday, July 24, 2014 in her home surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Gallagher was born in New Haven, CT on August 7, 1923, daughter of the late John and Mary (Donnelly) Begley, and has been a Stratford resident since 1961. Anne was a retired Administrative Assistant at Warnaco and was a longtime, active parishioner of St. James Church and a member of the St. James Ladies Guild. She was an avid bridge player, loved being at the beach and loved the time she spent with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include three sons and their spouses, John and Patricia Gallagher of Maryville, TN, Mark and Judith Gallagher of Ridgefield and Michael and Angela Gallagher of Stratford; one brother Father John J. Begley SJ, of Scranton, PA.; two sisters Mary Moore of East Haven and Joan DeGioia of Hamden; seven grandchildren Jessica, Joshua and his wife Yuko, Jacob and his wife Laura Michelle, Patrick, Meghan and Raphal Nightingale, Karin and Melissa; great grandchildren Michael Heath, Courtney, Miyo, Taka and Parker and several step grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her daughter Ellen Mary Gallagher and grandson Christopher. Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, July 28, 2014 at 10:30 am in St. James Roman Catholic Church, 2070 Main St, Stratford, CT. Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven. Friends may visit with the family before mass time from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St., Stratford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Assoc. of CT, 2075 Silas Deane Highway, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
