Arthur David Cabral mostly known as Butch or Art has been called into eternal rest on Friday, May 1, 2020, at the age of 82 at his home in Goodyear, AZ. He was the beloved husband to Rose Ann Soares for 31 years.
He was born in Bridgeport Hospital on October 26, 1938, to Peter and Hattie Cabral of Bridgeport, CT, growing up on Calhoun Ave in the Hollow Area of Bridgeport making many lifelong friends.
He attended St. Augustine Academy School as a child and was baptized and a parishioner of St. Augustine Cathedral before relocating to AZ.
He attended Central High School while working at Nehi Bottling Company on Linen Ave before entering the United States Marine Corp in 1959 being stationed at Camp Lejeune, NC. Where he proudly served as a Marine until April 16, 1963, with an honorable discharge. His moto was “Once A Marine Always Marine.”
After being discharged from the Marine he worked at Remington Arms on Barnum Ave in Bridgeport for 28 years before retiring. After retiring he also served as a union rep for Dupont Corporation for 3 years.
He resided in Bridgeport for most of his life with Rose until relocating to the Phoenix Metro Area in 2007.
He was cared for and survived by his daughter Deanna (Dee) Cabral of Goodyear, AZ, his brother
Theodore (Babe) Cabral of Greensboro, NC and a host of nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, June 26, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. by meeting directly at Saint Augustine Cathedral, 359 Washington Ave, Bridgeport, CT 06604. The Mass will be live streamed at https://www.thecathedralparish.org
Interment will follow in Saint Michael’s Cemetery, Stratford.
