Obituary for Barbara J. Barreira

Barbara J. Barreira, age 57, of Stratford, passed away Monday, December 25, 2023. Barbara was born November 1, 1966 in Bridgeport, CT,  daughter of Margaret (Lubas) Dee.

Barbara devoted all her time and energy into her family and friends. She enjoyed telling jokes, playing games, singing karaoke, and especially playing pranks on people. Smiling through her pain, Barbara still made it her duty to put a smile on everyone's face. She was the definition of the words inspiration, pure and love. She always looked forward to family vacations and celebrations.

In addition to her mother, survivors include her two children, Joshua Barreira and his fiancé Tania Rodrigues and Nicole Barreira and her husband Carlos Bran Jr.; two grandchildren, Isaac and Noah Bran; two sisters Donna Szymanski and her husband James and Margaret Hopkins and several nieces and nephews. Also survived by and holding a special place in Barbara's heart were Alicia Corey and very dear friend and caretaker Donald Kratky.

She is predeceased by her very special stepfather Eric W. Dee, whom she called Dad.

Friends are invited to celebrate her life on Thursday, January 4, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main Street, Stratford, CT.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or The Multiple Sclerosis Society.
