Obituary for Bob Berger
Robert Joseph Berger Jr., age 88 of Milford, beloved husband of Linda (Hlubik) Berger passed away Friday, May 17, 2019 in the West Haven Veterans Hospital. Mr. Berger was born in Bridgeport, January 10, 1931, son of the late Robert and Ann (Steele) Bergere Sr., and had been a lifetime area resident.
Mr. Berger was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War and was the owner operator of the Yankee Gun Shop. He was also a published author of four books, pertaining to military weaponry and dress daggers. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed collecting military and fishing artifacts as well as traveling with his wife and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors in addition to his beloved wife include his two children, Mark Berger and his wife Carol and Dawn Babcock and her husband Wade; two grandchildren, Jacob and Forrest Berger; one sister, Beverly Hriczko and her husband Charlie and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, Herbert.
Friends are invited to celebrate his life on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St. Stratford.
Military Honors and presentation of the flag will follow.
Friends may visit with his family before service time Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
