Obituary for Carl Augustine Montanaro Sr.
Carl Augustine Montanaro Sr., age 77, of Shelton CT, previously of Elgin, South Carolina and Bridgeport, CT, longtime companion of the late Carol Taylor of Elgin, SC., passed away Friday, April 23, 2021 in Shelton CT. Mr. Montanaro was born June 16, 1943 in Bridgeport, son of Josephine (Pavia) Montanaro of Milford and the late Gus Montanaro and had been a long time Bridgeport resident before moving to Elgin South Carolina 20 years ago and his recent move to Shelton, CT.
Nicknamed the “Kicker,” Carl was a retired Auto Mechanic and was an avid classic car enthusiast and owned several of them over the years.
Survivors include his three sons, Carl Montanaro Jr. and his wife Elise, Michael Montanaro and John Montanaro and his wife Georgina; grandchildren Carl III, Danielle, Brittley, Brody, and Tyler Montanaro, Leah Duquette and Jacob Cyrgalis; two brothers, Gus and John Montanaro and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two siblings, Judy Felix and Anthony Montanaro.
Friends are invited to attend his funeral service celebrated by Deacon John Piatak on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St., Stratford. Interment will be private. Friends may visit with his family after the service from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Masonic Care, www.Masonicare.org
Due to covid health concerns, occupancy limitations are in place and face masks and social distancing are required
