Serving Our Community Since 1951Charles Louis Corner, age 83, of Stratford, beloved husband of the late Edna Elizabeth (Smith) passed away Saturday, March 25, 2023, in Bridgeport Hospital. Mr. Corner was born September 22, 1939, in Bridgeport, son of the late Edward and Helena (Byrnes) Corner and had been a lifelong area resident.
Charlie was a United States Army Veteran and played softball for Stony Brook Old Timers for many years. After retiring as a longshoreman, he enjoyed spending summers in the pool, taking walks at the beach, socializing at local clubs, and several trips to the casinos. Charlie loved eating breakfast at Duchess Diner then sitting at Bonds Dock reading his newspaper. Mostly, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his three children, Charles Corner, Robin Booth and her husband Tom and Tammy Corner; six Grandchildren, Shawn Corner and his wife Kelly, Kyle Corner, Justin Booth, Erika Corner-Gregory and her husband Casey, Brad Booth and Thomas Booth; three great-grandchildren, Scarlett, Peyton and Isabella; two siblings, Edward Corner and Margaret Corner-Drew and several other nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial on Friday March 31, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. by meeting directly at Our Lady of Grace Church, 497 Second Hill Lane, Stratford.
Interment with military honors will follow in Saint Michael’s Cemetery Stratford.
Friends may call Thursday evening from 4:00m p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main Street, Stratford.
