Obituary for Christa (Zawadski) Madison
Christa (Zawadski) Madison, age 62, of Stratford, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 after she fought a long illness. She was born in Bridgeport, CT on November 5, 1958, daughter of Alice (Haggerty) and the late John Zawadski.
Christa was a Research Administrator for over 20 years at the VA Hospital in St. Pete and Tampa, FL and most recently at the West Haven VA. She loved her golden retriever, Lacey and was a very active member in the Lordship community and at Port 5 in Bridgeport. She always enjoyed the beach, boating and collecting sea glass. Upholstery, sewing, and traveling with friends and family were her passion in life. She spent almost 20 years in Clearwater, FL where she met her late husband, Phil and selflessly raised her daughter.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Phil Madison and her father, John “Jack” Zawadski. She is survived by her mother, Alice (Haggerty) Zawadski; her daughter, LT Rachel A. Smith USN and her husband, LCDR Sam Yu USN of Florida; her brother, Charles Zawadski and his wife Lori of Shelton. She is also survived by an uncle and numerous cousins.
Christa will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Friends are invited to visit with the family on Monday, April 19, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St., Stratford, CT 06615. Face masks and social distancing are required. Interment will be private.
