Obituary for Cornelia T. 'Connie' Hull
Cornelia “Connie” Hull, 82, of Concord, NH and previously of Stratford, CT passed away on November 27, 2013. Connie was born in Bridgeport, CT on August 24, 1931, graduated from Bassick High School and attended St. Mary’s College. In 1970, she graduated from the University of Bridgeport School of Nursing with all of her proud children present at her graduation ceremony. She was married to Gene Hull for 28 years; they raised eight children in Stratford, CT, where Connie lived until moving to Concord in 2006. Connie worked for over 30 years at Bridgeport Hospital as a nurse. She loved her work and was active in the Association of Operating Room Nurses. But her greatest pleasure was in the lives that she touched: as a mother of eight, as a surrogate mom to many others, and as a friend to even more. She even doted on her pets, especially her many cockatiels (of which her favorite was Larry Bird). She delighted in all children, good conversation, animals, sailing, and being of help to others. She was a woman of character who saw only the good in people and had a lasting effect on the lives of many. One of the true kind and gentle spirits of the world, Connie leaves a sister, Patricia Pace, of Cheshire, CT; her children, David Hull & wife Sally of Plymouth, MA; Margaret Hull of Portland, OR; Peter Hull & wife Robin of Stratford, CT; Rebecca Herst & husband Calvin of Concord, NH; Matthew Hull & wife Mary Jo of Hingham, MA; Amy Hull of Concord, NH; Christopher Hull of Quincy, MA; and Sara MacKay & husband Kevin of Greenfield, MA; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Amanda McDonald, Cara Spencer, Bailey, Olivia, and Harrison Hull, and great-granddaughter, Jolene Leonetti, all of whom were her very favorites. She was predeceased by her parents, Armand and Edna Pettit, as well as by her sister Mary Jane Morrissey Torsiello. Remember Connie by holding your family close, and by extending a kind heart and helping hand to others. In lieu of flowers, the family invites contributions to be made in her name to the Stratford Animal Rescue Society, P.O. Box 1371, Stratford, CT 06615; or to the Connecticut Burn Center at Bridgeport Hospital, 267 Grant St., Bridgeport, CT 06610. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St, Stratford, CT 06615. Friends may visit with the family Saturday before service time from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
