Obituary for David T. Fonseca
United States Airman, David Thomas Fonseca, age 53, transitioned into peaceful rest on October 1, 2021.
The youngest of six children, Dave was born on March 15th, 1968, to the late Deacon Donald and Mary (Silva) Fonseca in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
He attended grammar school at Blessed Sacrament and secondary school at Warren Harding High where he graduated in 1987. Following his education, Dave enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was a Gulf War era Veteran. He was honorably discharged in 1991. He was then employed by the United States Postal Service as a mail handler in Stamford, CT. In 2015, Dave moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where he continued his career with the USPS up until the time of his passing.
Dave enjoyed fishing in Cape Cod, bicycling, PlayStation, watching Hell's Kitchen and comedy shows. He loved spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews, to whom he was more like a big brother than an uncle.
Dave is survived by one Goddaughter/Niece, Sharday Fonseca, whom he considered his own; two sisters, Nancy Fonseca and her husband Mike and Elizabeth Taylor and her husband Reggie; one brother, Donald Fonseca, all of Bridgeport, CT; a special Aunt Joyce Silva of Wakefield, Rhode Island; sister-in-law Nora Lopes of Bradenton, Florida; lifelong friends, who were more like brothers, Bernard Nabors, Hank Jackson, and Andre Ely, as well as a host of Nieces, Nephews, Family, and Friends.
Dave was also predeceased by his parents Deacon Donald and Mary Fonseca; two Brothers, Russell (Roc) Fonseca who passed in May of 2020 and Joseph (Joe) Fonseca who passed in May of 2021.
Dave's comedic behavior will surely be missed. Rest Peacefully Dave in “the Upper Room.”
Friends and Family are invited to celebrate Dave’s life on Saturday, October 23, 2021, at the William R. McDonald Funeral Home located at 2591 Main Street, Stratford, CT 06615.
Order of Events:
Viewing/Visitation with family 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Funeral service led by Father Joseph Karcsinsky 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.
Followed by Military Honors.
Repast 1 p.m. to 5p.m. at Moose Lodge, 44 Dodge Avenue, Stratford, CT 06615.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Dave’s memory can be made to the Fisher House Foundation for Veterans.
