Obituary for Diane Aileen (Orner) McCrea
Diane (Di) Aileen McCrea Orner, age 66, of Seymour, beloved daughter of Shirley A. (Van Horn) Orner and the late Robert E. Orner of Stratford, lost her valiant battle with cancer and passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, July 27th, 2014 with her caring and devoted family by her side. Diane was born on December 1st, 1947 in Mt. Pleasant, PA. She attended grade school in Scottdale, PA until the 4th grade when her family moved to CT. She graduated from Bunnell High School in 1965. She resided in Seymour, but was a constant companion with her mom in Stratford for many years.She recently retired after working 34 years as a Dental Office Manager for Dr. Kenneth Rabine in Paradise Green in Stratford, and for Dr. Fischer for 10 years prior to that. She touched many lives in that office and was grateful to Dr. Kenny for all his kindness and generosity shown to her and her family.Diane was an avid shopper. She enjoyed going on vacations and going to the casino. She especially appreciated going to dinner with her family and her dear friends, Barbara and Irene. Her favorite meal was “American Spaghetti” & she treasured her daily Dunkin Donuts Iced Tea (with NO Ice). She loved to tell stories & go to the movies with her greatest joys, Max & Sam. She enjoyed watching TV, especially Dancing with the Stars with Tony D. & Maks, but mostly loved watching Tom Brady and her Patriots & listening to music by Barry Manilow and Michael Bublé –she was always “Trying to get that feeling again.” Family was the most important thing in her life. In addition to her mother, she leaves to cherish her memory, her two brothers, Dr. Mark Orner & his wife Susan of Orange and Todd Orner & his wife Jackie of Oxford along with their children, her precious nephew Max and her goddaughter and niece Samantha Orner who were the highlights of her life and with whom she spent their lifetime doting over. Her unique sense of humor will also be greatly missed by all those whose lives she touched especially, her friend Karen, her beloved Aunt Connie and Uncle Bob James of New Castle, PA, her Aunt Eleanor Orner from Youngwood, PA and her cousin Sandi Osterwise of Fairport, NY as well as several other cousins. Throughout her struggle, some special people stepped up to help her. Most notably, her neighbors Justin & Kalyn, her dear friend Barbara, Dr. Keogh & Dr. Witt, her sister-in-law Sue’s sister –Joann Raytar, her co-workers –especially Irene, Lois and Annie, and in the end, her aide and caregiver, Alice. A very special note of appreciation and gratitude goes to a truly amazing person whose tender love and care was given to Diane right to the very end from her VNS Hospice nurse Doreen. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Tuesday, August 5th, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for a Celebration of her Life service at the William R.
