Obituary for Dorothy A. (Miezeski) Benedict
Dorothy Antoinette (Miezeski) Benedict, age 81, of Stratford, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 in Yale New Haven Hospital surrounded by her family. Dorothy was born April 16, 1934 in Bridgeport, daughter of the late Stanley and Antoinette (Dubicki) Miezeski.
Although Dorothy spent most of her life in Connecticut, she enjoyed 12 years in Jacksonville, FL from 1998 through 2010 after her retirement as a Dental Hygienist. Her time there was dedicated to her loving grandchildren and fun in the sun! Dorothy was an avid reader; enjoyed knitting, playing cards, volunteering and spending time with family and friends. Upon her return to Connecticut, Dorothy resided in West Haven, CT with her daughter.
Survivors include her devoted children, daughter Donna Meadors of West Haven, CT and son Douglas Benedict and his wife Nanda of Derry, NH; two cherished grandchildren Bradley and Curtis Benedict and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son Daniel Benedict.
Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, December 17, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Marks Church, 500 Wigwam Lane, Stratford. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Shelton. Friends may visit with the family at 9:30 a.m. in the church before Mass. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make a toy or monetary donation in Dorothy's name to Yale Children's Hospital, One Park St., New Haven, CT 06510.
