Obituary for Doug Brown
Douglas F. Brown, age 56, of Southington and previously of Stratford, passed away Thursday, August 26, 2021. He was the son of Barbara L. Tompkins and the late Norman Brown.
An electrician by trade, Doug was always looking for an adventure. He enjoyed his family, fishing, riding his Harley, music and his diet coke. He was well known as the founder of “organic” Fruit Loops, Twizzlers, and gummy bears. We also remember long, long bike rides to Watsons. He always displayed a dry, sarcastic, sense of humor and called out sucking up, brown-nosing, and whining. Doug was a master of the handmade cheeseburger and grilled whenever he could. He was never far from an American flag but, perhaps most of all, Doug was a fiercely loyal son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle and friend.
Survivors include his children, Kim (Randy) Gaudette and Jessica and Paige Brown; grandchildren, Taylor, Ava, Emma, Stella, Brooklynn, Charlotte, Everly, Jordan and Demitri; his siblings, Kristen (Noel) Cocca, Dan Kurzawa, Todd (Cheryl) Tompkins, Tyler (Kendra) Tompkins and Lisa (Tom) Mantini; his step-mother, Nora Brown; Aunt, Marie (John) Cerrone; his former wife, Lori and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his step-father, Louis Tompkins; his son, Mike Prince and two brothers, John Brown and Jimmy Kurzawa.
Friends are invited to attend a celebration of his life on Tuesday August 31, 2021, at 7:00 p.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main Street, Stratford.
Friends may visit with his family before service time from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Funeral home.
