Obituary for Dwight Pulkkinen
Dwight Pulkkinen, age 76, of Ansonia, beloved husband of the late Margaret Mary (Hughes) Pulkkinen, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, April 26, 2017 in Bridgeport Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Pulkkinen was born March 17, 1941 in Lovell, Maine, son of the late Donald and Mae (Harmon) Pulkkinen and had been a lifetime area resident.
Dwight was a United States Army Veteran and was a retired tractor trailer driver for 50 years having worked for Petruzzello, Spector Freight, North Penn Transfer and Overnight Transportation.
He loved nothing more than spending time with his devoted family especially his grandchildren and was an avid NY Yankee and New England Patriot fan. He always enjoyed watching NASCAR and modified racing with his wife.
Survivors include his four children Margaret M. O'Reilly and her husband Timothy of Ansonia, Erik Pulkkinen and his wife Christina of Beacon Falls, Mark Pulkkinen of Seymour and Karen Pulkkinen and her fiancé James Hughes of Oxford; four grandchildren, Megan O'Reilly, Colleen O'Reilly, Alexis Strode and Erik Pulkkinen, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his brother Freddie.
The family would like to thank the staff of Sunset Shores and Bridgeport Hospital especially their Geriatric Center for their loving and considerate care given to their father.
Friends are invited to attend his funeral service with full military honors celebrated by Father Peter Cipriani on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St, Stratford. Interment will be at a later date. Friends may visit with his family Saturday before service time from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Dwight's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Suite 100, 2075 Silas Dean Highway, Rocky Hill, Connecticut 06067.
