Obituary for Edward Gibson
Edward P. Gibson, age 47, passed away peacefully on Good Friday, March, 29, 2013 at Martin Memorial Hospital in Stuart, FL., where he had been residing for the past three years. Ed was born May 18, 1965 in Mountain View, CA., to Edward Gibson, Sr. and Mary Lu Bradley (DiPronio.). He spent his younger years in Bridgeport, CT., and graduated from Notre Dame Catholic High School in 1983. Ed joined the United States Navy and served on active duty as a Boatswain’s Mate 1st Class from 1985 to1991. He served on multiple ships including his favorite, the USS FORRESTAL (CV-59) and then as a reservist until 1998 when he received an Honorable Discharge. After the Navy, Ed worked for the CT Department of Transportation as a crew leader for 18 years. He married Elizabeth Seno in 1987, had two wonderful children, Edward, Jr. and Tiffany and was happily married for 20 years until they parted ways in 2007. Ed moved to Florida to spend the last few years of his life doing what he loved the most: boating, fishing and soaking up the sun. Ed is survived by his two children, Edward Jr. and Tiffany Gibson; his former wife, Elizabeth of North Haven, CT; his father, Edward Gibson and step mother, Terry of Oxford; his mother, Mary Lu DiPronio and step father Anthony of Stuart, FL and three brothers, Dr. Douglas Gibson, Michael Gibson and Anthony DiPronio. Ed was loved by many and will be in our hearts forever. Friends and relatives are invited to a memorial service to celebrate Ed’s life on Friday, April 19, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St., Stratford, CT. Friends may visit with the family be fore service time from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Interment will be private.
