Obituary for Edward McNichol
Edward McNichol, age 91, of Shelton and previously of the Lordship section of Stratford, beloved husband of Beverly (Daugherty) McNichol for 65 years, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, Friday, March 30, 2018 in Bridgeport Hospital.
Ed was born September 25, 1926 in Petaluma, California son of the late Olphert and Amelia (Pozun) McNichol and was raised with his two brothers and a sister in Bronxville NY. After WWII he married Bev, the love of his life and lived in NY. They moved to Vernon, CT and after a few years moved to Lordship where they lived for 50 years before moving recently to Shelton, CT.
He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. Following his service, Ed was a Service Technician for Eastman Kodak for over 35 years. He loved spending time with his family, was an active member of Our Lady of Peace Parish and enjoyed many outdoor activities including bicycling, hiking, kayaking, swimming, running, scuba diving, sailing and camping. After retirement Ed and Bev enjoyed traveling all over North America in their RV, visiting friends, family and new places. He also enjoyed reading and a good glass of wine!
Survivors in addition to his wife include his four children, Paul McNichol and his wife Janice of Toledo, Ohio, Patricia McNichol and her husband Jim Link of Branford, Dan McNichol of West Haven, Jonathan McNichol and his wife Diane Butler of Fort Calhoun, NE.; four grandchildren, Ryan McNichol and his wife Alison, Mark McNichol and his wife Jimin, Tommy McNichol and Cory McNichol; two great-grandchildren, Mathew and Lucas; a brother Robert McNichol and his wife Bernadette; a sister, Dorothea Pratt and her husband Raymond and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother George and his wife Alice. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass celebrated by Father Nicholas Pavia on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Peace Church, 651 Stratford, Rd, Lordship, CT. Interment will be private. Friends may visit with his family after Mass in the church hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Our Lady of Peace Sanctuary Fund, 651 Stratford Road, Stratford, CT 06615.
