Obituary for Eileen (O'Connor) Hampton
Eileen B. (O'Connor) Hampton, age 80, of Stratford and previously of New York, beloved wife of the late Charles R. Hampton, passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2016 surrounded by her loving family in Gaylord Hospital, Wallingford. Mrs. Hampton was born in Manhattan, New York, February 4, 1936, daughter of the late James and Mary (McDonald) O'Connor.
Eileen graduated St. Claire's Nursing School and went on to receive her Bachelor's Degree from Marymount Manhattan College. Eileen worked as a nurse before choosing to devote her time to raising her family. She was a loving mother and grandmother, a devout Catholic and was proud of her religion. She loved to read and spend time in church, but mostly Eileen loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include her devoted and loving children, two sons, James Hampton and his wife Karen of Long Island and Kenneth Hampton of Stratford; three daughters, Maryanne Houghton of Shelton, Theresa Hampton of the Bronx and Christine Feliciano and her husband Luis of Stratford; ten adored grandchildren, Thomas Houghton, Kristin Houghton, Joseph Schiavone, Tyler Schiavone, Brendan Hampton-Valentin, Matthew Hampton-Valentin, Brittany Hampton, Luis Feliciano, James Hampton and Kaitlin Feliciano and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her daughter Kathleen (Hampton) Schiavone, her sister Joan Shields and her brother John O'Connor.
Friends are invited to attend her funeral service on Tuesday morning March 29, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St., Stratford and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mark's Church, 500 Wigwam Lane, Stratford for a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friend may visit with her family Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
