Obituary for Eleanor (Nickerson) Bouvier
Eleanor (Nickerson) Bouvier, age 98, of Stratford, beloved wife of the late "Larry" Durwood Bouvier, passed away Friday, February 10, 2017 in her home. Eleanor was born in Belfast Maine, May 11, 1918, daughter of the late Raymond and Dora (Brock) Nickerson.
She spent her childhood in Maine. As a young woman she moved to Bridgeport seeking work where she met Larry, the love of her life. They married after a four month courtship. She followed him to Kentucky then Alabama while he was on maneuvers until he shipped out to Pearl Harbor. They remained married for 70 years. She worked at Reads for many years then Bridgeport Hospital as a clerical lab worker until her retirement. She was a girl scout leader and later became a member of the council. She enjoyed her two grandsons, knitting, rug hooking poetry, writing letters and traveling to visit her brothers, sister & cousin Betty.
Survivors include, two daughters, Jill Bouvier and her husband Jack Maillet of Monroe and Judy Stanko and her husband Dennis of Seymour; two grandchildren, Kevin Maillet of Brooklyn NY and Daniel Maillet of Naugatuck; two brothers Gilbert Archer of Central Point Oregon & Winston Archer of Orlando Florida and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Ernest Nickerson of Shelton and Lewis Archer Jr of Farmington Maine and a sister Patience Buck of Kingman Arizona.
Funeral services and interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
