Obituary for Elizabeth "Betty" Burke
Elizabeth “Betty” (Brennan) Burke, age 90, of Trumbull beloved wife of the late Joseph Burke, passed away Friday, May 4, 2018 in the Ludlowe Nursing Facility, Fairfield surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Burke was born January 20, 1928 in Bridgeport, daughter of the late Egbert and Lillian (Frenzel) Brennan and had been a life time area resident.
Betty was a retired nurse at Yale New Haven Hospital. She was an avid reader and loved her Yankee baseball. She was a devoted mother and the heart and soul of her large family.
Survivors include her eight children, Kathleen Burke, Joseph Burke, Patrick Burke and his wife Katherine, Mary Anne McDonough and her husband Patrick, Pamela Burke, Christopher Burke and his wife Jennifer, David Burke and Raymond Burke and his wife Melissa; two brothers, Frederick Brennan and Vincent Brennan; in-laws, Kathy Brennan and Thomas and Joan Burke; twelve grandchildren; ten great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She leaves behind many dear friends at the Ludlowe Center including her best friend Joyce Dawkins.
She was predeceased by her brother, John Brennan and sister, Katherine ‘Kay’ Sam. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Ludlowe Center for their kind and compassionate care given their mother.
Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. by meeting directly in Saint James Church, 2070 Main St., Stratford, CT. Interment will be private.
Friends may visit with her family Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St., Stratford, CT.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made in her name to the charity of one’s choice.
