Obituary for Ella May Fyfe
Fyfe - Ella May (Scace) Fyfe, age 93 of Stratford, beloved wife of the late Archie Fyfe, entered eternal life Thursday, November 29, 2012 in Stratford. Mrs. Fyfe was born on the family farm May 27, 1919, one of ten children of the late Charles and Jessie (Parker) Scace. Ella May graduated from North Adams Teachers College and began her career as a one-room teacher in South Egremont, Massachusetts. In 1946 she married and moved to Connecticut where Ella and Archie raised their family. After teaching for 37 years, she retired from Daniels Farm School, Trumbull, CT. In her retirement, she traveled the world, researched and wrote her family’s genealogy and mastered many handicrafts. An avid letter writer, Ella kept in touch with all members of her vastly extended family. Survivors include her beloved sister, Florence (Scace) Rayner and her husband John; two daughters Anna (Fyfe) Whiteway and her husband Bruce and Adell (Fyfe) Mastro; five grandchildren, Parker Whiteway, Clint Whiteway, Devon Whiteway, Sasha Mastro and Thomas Mastrocinque; as well as hundreds of cousins. Ella encouraged everyone she met to be a lifelong learner. All Services were private and were entrusted to the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, Stratford. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the: Hancock Elementary School, PO Box 1039, Hancock, MA., 01237.
