Obituary for Frances (McVeigh) Hallam
Frances Lorraine (McVeigh) Hallam, 100, beloved wife of the late William John Hallam of Stratford, passed peacefully into eternal life on May 16, 2014 in Lord Chamberlain Nursing Home. Born in New Haven, CT on March 21, 1914 to the late John and Lillian Lockery McVeigh, Frances was a Stratford resident and St. James parishioner for 74 years. She was a member of the St. James Ladies Guild, the Catholic Daughters and the Baldwin Center. Frances was an amazing baker and cook, a talented doll maker, and a skilled knitter. The door to her sun porch was always open to visitors and her home was always a welcoming place for her friends, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, neighbors and all of their friends. She is survived by her sons: William (Bill) Hallam and his wife Maryann of The Villages, FL and Kenneth J. Hallam and his wife Joyce of Stratford CT; 7 grandchildren: Will and his wife Lorri Hallam, Maura Hallam, Jennifer and her husband Damon Derbyshire, Kenneth Hallam Jr., Heather, Jason, and Christopher Hallam; 5 great grandchildren: Matthew, Christopher and Jack Hallam, Landon and Maeve Derbyshire and niece Patricia Mitchell and her husband Peter of Anchorage Alaska. She was predeceased by her beloved son Clifford Hallam, cherished great grandson Aiden Veloce; sisters: Margaret Heffernan, Irene Lawler, Lillian Nichols, Nettie Lee, Helen Jones, and brothers James, John and Wayne McVeigh. Friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. by meeting directly at St. James Church, 2070 Main St, Stratford. Interment will follow in Park Cemetery, 620 Lindley St, Bridgeport. Friends may visit with the family Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the William R.
