Obituary for Frank Emil Eckert
ECKERT, FRANK EMIL, 96, of Stratford, CT passed away peacefully at Spring Village at Stratford on January 27, 2021. He was the beloved husband of 63 years of Alice (Giovanetti) Eckert. Frank was born October 4, 1924 in West New York, New Jersey to his late parents Harry and Mary (Chisko) Eckert. Frank graduated from Bullard Havens Technical School in Bridgeport and became a Tool & Die Maker. He joined the Army Air Corp and served as a tail gunner during the WWII European Conflict. Post his military service, Frank worked as a Tool & Die Maker and eventually established the Sterling Tool & Die company with his partners and held the position of Vice President. After retirement, Frank and Alice moved to Morris, CT for 15 years before moving back to Stratford 18 years ago.
Frank enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, trips to the casino, and traveling cross country with his wife. Over a 20-year period they visited many of the states and their attractions, but his greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he leaves behind his beloved children: Paul Eckert, Sr (Cheryl) of Colorado Springs, CO; Betty Bajek (Brian) of Prospect, CT; Nancy Eckert of Claremont, NH, Judy Eckert (Liz McGovern) of Crossville, TN; and Laura Krahn (Gerd) of Vergennes, VT. His grandchildren/great grandchildren: Paul Eckert, Jr (Ashley) of Denver, CO and their 4 children, Jackson, Carter, Peyton, and Oliver; Phil Eckert (Heather) of Colorado Springs, CO and their 2 children Madison and Franklin (his namesake), Nicole Maiorano of Vancouver, Canada, Madeline Maiorano of Birmingham, AL, Karl Krahn (Anna) of St. Albans, VT and their 2 children Willa and Theo, and Greta Krahn of Fairfax, VT.
Friends and Family are invited to attend his memorial service on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 2:00 pm in the Christ Episcopal Church, 2000 Main St, Stratford, CT 06615
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sterling House Community Center Food Pantry, 2283 Main Street, Stratford, CT 06615 (or online at www.sterlinghousecc.org/resource-connection-food-pantry).
