Obituary for Frank Long
Frank Long, age 97 of Stratford, CT, beloved husband of 68 years to Martha (Howell) Long, passed away peacefully on October 16, 2014. Born in Bridgeport, CT on July 26, 1917, he was the son of the late Edward and Evelyn (Satchel) Long. Frank resided in Stratford most of his life. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Park City Council #16 for 72 years. He was employed at Burndy Corporation in Milford for over 20 years. Frank was an avid fisherman and auto racing enthusiast. In addition to his wife Martha, he is survived by 3 daughters: Carol Toth and husband Jack Toth of Wells, VT, twin daughters Karen Johannesen and Sharon Allison and husband Steve Allison, all of Stratford. Frank also leaves behind 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; a brother Raymond Long of Wallingford, CT and several nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St., Stratford, CT 06614. Friends may visit with the family Tuesday before service time from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Frank’s memory may be made to Vitas Hospice Care, 99 Hawley Lane, Stratford, CT 06615.
