Obituary for Gail (Allen) Warmke
Gail R. (Allen) Warmke, age 87, formerly of Stratford, passed away Friday, July 23, 2021, in Moodus, CT. Mrs. Warmke was born February 12, 1934, daughter of the late George and Nellie Allen and had been a lifetime area resident.
Gail loved the beach and was an active member of the Stratford United Methodist Church for over fifty years. She enjoyed volunteering with many organizations inside and outside the church including arts & crafts, youth groups, Scouts, gardening groups. She also volunteered to feed the homeless with the Golden Hill Suppers and neighborhood breakfast.
Gail and her late husband George enjoyed spending Sunday mornings having breakfast with friends out at local diners and restaurants where laughter was never in short supply. Fond memories of annual Christmas Eve open houses, Memorial Day picnics where they always had room for one (or three) more unexpected guests attend with open arms. A talented seamstress and cook her home was always open to welcome friends and family with a cup of coffee, tea, and baked goods to share.
She was predeceased by her husband, George F. Warmke and son, Gary A. Warmke.
Survivors include two children, Greg Warmke and Grace (Warmke) Horvath; grandchildren, Jeannette (Horvath) Watson, Allison (Horvath) McDonald, Kaylyn Warmke and Gina Warmke; great grandchildren, Melony, Logan, Dustin, Levi, several nieces and nephews, and her family by heart, Bob, Melissa, Jackie, Colleen and Jason Sosnoski.
Friends are invited to attend a service to celebrate her life on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 10:30 am at the Stratford United Methodist church, 2600 Main Street, Stratford, CT.
Interment will follow in Union Cemetery.
In Lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to SUMC Gardening Group or plant a perennial plant/flower in her memory at your home.
