Serving Our Community Since 1951George was born in the village of Walden, New York, son of the late Albert and Sarah (Chapman) Bartram and had been a Stratford resident for over 50 years.
He attended Connecticut State Trade School in the early 1930’s and was a retired blue collar worker for the General Electric Company where he retired after 44 years of service.
He was a decorated World War II army veteran, serving 13 months in France and received five medals from the United States Army and three more from France.
Survivors include his devoted nieces and nephews Susan Turney, Daniel Turney, Edward & Jean Palmer, Wayne and Marie Palmer, Shauna Quigley-Blaze.
Friends are invited to attend his funeral service officiated by the Reverend Simeon Law on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St., Stratford. Interment with full military honors will follow in Lawncroft Cemetery, Fairfield.
Friends may visit with his family Wednesday before service time from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
