Serving Our Community Since 1951Mr. Vagasky was born February 8, 1930 in Bridgeport, son of the late George J. and Elizabeth (Koval) Vagasky and had been a life time Stratford resident.Â
George was a retired manager for Raymark Industries and at the age of 84, he also retired as a bus driver for the Stratford School system. He was a United States Air Force veteran of the Korean War and a member and past commander of the Stratford VFW Raymond Goldbach Post 9460 where he and his wife were extremely active. He was also instrumental in the construction of the Stratford WWII Memorial on Academy Hill, Stratford and volunteered in many capacities at the West Haven VA Disabilities Hospital and the VFW annual Christmas parties. When his children were small he and his wife were very active volunteers in Saint James School. Â
Survivors include his daughter, Carol Ann Plichta and her husband, Ted of Bellevue, Nebraska; four grandchildren, Bradley Vagasky, Andrew Vagasky, Zachary Belanger and Lisa Marie Belanger; a sister-in-law, Irene Carter and her husband James of Trumbull and many nieces and nephews.Â
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a son, Stephen Vagasky.Â
Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Father Thomas Lynch on Friday, February 23, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. in Saint James Church, Stratford. Interment with military honors will follow in Union Cemetery, Stratford.
Friends may visit with his family Friday morning before Mass time from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St. Stratford.Â
