Obituary for George J. Romano
George J. Romano, age 76, of Stratford, beloved husband of Michelina (D’Andrea) Romano, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2022 in Bridgeport Hospital. Mr. Romano was born in Bridgeport on May 30,1945, son of the late James and Katherine (Semcho) Romano and was a lifetime area resident.
George was a retired teacher and administrator for the Trumbull School System for 38 years. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in finance and marketing from the University of New Haven, a Master’s Degree and Sixth Year Certificate in Education from the University of Bridgeport and Housatonic Community College. He also attended advanced classes in vocational education at Southern Connecticut State University and Central Connecticut State University. He was also an Adjunct Professor at the University of Bridgeport and Housatonic Community College. While teaching in the Trumbull School System, he held the position of Department Chairman of the Business Department, Coordinator of the Work Experience and Cooperative Education Program, Marketing Education Coordinator and Director of the Driver’s Ed Program. He also had his real estate and insurance licenses and was Vice-President of Co/Ro (Liquor outlet).
George’s sharp wit, work ethic and sense of humor was a great joy to everyone. He was never complaining and was always entertaining.
In addition to his wife Michelina, he is survived by two children, James G. Romano and his wife Francesca and Linda Haycox and her husband Steve; his grandchildren, with whom he took great pride in and adored, Sydney, Gianna and Amanda; as well as many, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was also loved by an entire family of in-laws.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Father Nicholas Pavia on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at 11:00 am. by meeting directly at Our Lady of Peace Church, 651 Stratford Road, Stratford, CT.
Interment will be private.
