Obituary for Geraldine Ann (Hunter) Swanson
Geraldine Ann "Gerry" (Hunter) Swanson, age 61, of Stratford, CT, beloved wife of Marc Swanson passed away Monday, February 22, 2016 in the Gaylord Rehabilitation Hospital, Wallingford after a long battle with heart disease. Gerry was born July 15, 1954 in Bridgeport, daughter of the late David and Marie (Zaharodny) Hunter, and had been a life time area resident.
She graduated from Trumbull High School in 1972 and attended Eastern Connecticut State College, where she graduated in 1976 with her bachelor's degree. Gerry worked as an accounts receivable agent for Fuji Medical Systems for 25 years.
She loved television shows and movies' from the 1950's and 1960's and could recite I love Lucy episodes verbatim. She loved dancing and listening to music from the 60's and 70's and had a particular fondness for the Beach Boys. Gerry loved to suntan and be by the water. She also loved collecting penguin memorabilia and had a soft spot in her heart for her "furry friends." Gerry loved to laugh and was often "the life of the party," and will be supremely missed by her family and friends. As the Beach Boys say: "Happy times together we've been spending, I wish that every kiss was never ending, Oh wouldn't it be nice."
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her brother, Robert Hunter; niece, Rachel; and nephew, David. She is also survived by several in-laws on her husband's side of the family, and many close friends.
A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, March 20, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Easton Public Library, 691 Morehouse Rd, Easton, CT 06612 with a reception to follow
