Obituary for Greg J. Gorlo Sr.
Gregory J. Gorlo Sr, age 58, of Stratford, passed away peacefully at home on August 11, 2020. Greg was born September 19, 1961 in Bridgeport, son of Barbara Gorlo and the late Anthony Gorlo Jr, and had been a lifetime Stratford resident.
As a child, Greg always had to be the fastest on his bicycle and wagon, he grew up loving fast cars and motorcycles. His dad was an auto mechanic and taught him the trade. Greg grew up repairing cars, and driving tow trucks and flatbeds, eventually owning the business that his father left to him.
He was also an avid NASCAR fan and raced locally with his own cars and in demolition derby’s. He was employed with Automotive Restorations by York of Ridgefield, CT. Greg was a very talented mechanic and classic car restorer, he loved working on cars and riding his Harley.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, Barbara, include his two children, Gregory J. Gorlo Jr and his wife Allison and daughter, Larina A Gorlo; his two grandchildren, Valerie N. Cardona and Gregory R. Gorlo who knew him affectionately as “Papa”; sister, Lenore Burzynski and husband Michael Sr; his former wife, Jennie Ann Gorlo; father-in-law, Rogelio Chamizo; his favorite Uncle, Ed Kusinski; niece/goddaughter, Josephine Smith and nephew, Michael Burzynski Jr; several cousins, many, many lifelong friends and his loving pet “Kahlua.”
