Obituary for Guieseppina 'Josephine' (Bonaventura) McFarland
Guieseppina 'Josephine' (Bonaventura) McFarland, age 89, beloved wife of the late Robert D. McFarland of Stratford, passed away with her family at her side on Monday, July 29, 2013 in Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Bridgeport March 14, 1924, daughter of the late Frank and Josephine Bonaventura, she was a lifetime resident of Stratford. She was a Union Steward at GE in Bridgeport until her retirement. Josephine was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved to cook and have her family together for meals as often as possible. She was an avid bingo player and loved to play the slots at Foxwoods Casino. Survivors include her daughter Josephine Jeronczyk; three adored granddaughters Kelly and Tracey Jeronczyk, all of Stratford and Kim Frischstein and her husband Michael of Shelton; four cherished great grandchildren Kayla, Zack, Gianna and Hailey; many nieces and nephews and her devoted dog, Gabe. She is predeceased by four brothers Angelo, Sam, Carmen and Ben and her beloved pets, Abby, Buster and Sheba. Friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, August 2, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. in Saint James Church, 2110 Main St, Stratford. Interment will follow in Saint Michael's Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may visit with the family Friday morning before Mass time from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St., Stratford. In leiu of flowers, Masses offered in Josephine's name would be appreciated.
