Obituary for Helen (Chehotsky) Matusko
Helen Matusko, age 95, entered peacefully into eternal rest on April 1, 2014 surrounded by her loving daughters, at St. Joseph’s Living Center in Windham CT. Born in Olyphant PA, she was a devoted wife of the late John Matusko with whom she shared 34 years of marriage until his passing in 1975. Daughter of the late Marcin and Catherine Chehotsky, she was a long time resident of Stratford, CT and a member of St. Joseph’s of Stratford National Catholic Church. Prior to retirement, she was employed at Warnaco’s in Stratford, CT. Her greatest pleasure in life was her devotion to her children and her unselfish love towards her family. Helen always put her family’s needs above her own. She loved singing, listening to her polka's and times spent with her sisters in Pennsylvania. Helen is survived by her beloved daughters, Carol Kindle Bruno (Richard) of Monroe, CT, Christine Hawthorne (Wayne) of Mansfield Center, CT, Joyce Matusko Sullivan (Brian) of Berlin, CT; grandson, Jason Ladd of Little River, South Carolina; sister-in-law, Bettye Chehotsky of Lake Charles, Louisiana and several nieces, nephews and extended family. She was predeceased by her son, John Matusko Jr; three sisters, Sophie Meka, Josephine Dulski, Mary Blodniker and three brothers Stanley, John and Theodore Chehotsky. Her daughters would like to thank the staff at St. Joseph’s Living Center for the loving care Helen received while a resident for the past eleven years. Honoring the family’s request, there will be no visiting hours. Services and interment will be private at the convenience of her family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph’s of Stratford,1300 Stratford Road, Stratford, CT 06615-7639 in memory of Helen Matusko.
