Obituary for James Ambrose Markland
James Markland, age 76 of Milford, beloved husband of Sheila (Agresta) Markland passed away, Thursday December 12, 2019 in Yale New Haven Hospital.
James was born April 19, 1943 in Bridgeport, son of the late Roy and Ethel (Coyle) Markland and was a lifetime area resident.
He was a United States Navy veteran having served during the Cuban Missile Crisis and was a retired electrician, having worked for GE, RCA and Home Depot.
James was an accomplished musician and played at many local clubs and record hops with his band “Dick Grass and the Hoppers” and recorded a single hit ‘Mr. John Law’ with Arrow Records. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ZhHyajoxok
When he was not playing guitar or keyboard, he enjoyed camping trips with his family and fishing.
Survivors in addition to his wife include two sons, James Markland and his wife Jessica and Jeffrey Markland; two grandchildren Madison and Tyler; his sister Marsha George and her husband Albert; a best friend and cousin Mel Cunningham and his wife Margie and several other cousins as well as nephews and nieces.
He was predeceased by two siblings, his brother Roy (Mickey) Markland and sister Joyce Lucas.
Friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, December 19, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. by meeting directly in Saint James Church, 2110 Main St., Stratford.
