Serving Our Community Since 1951James Lewis Gallick, age 90, beloved husband of the late Ann (Pascucci) Gallick, passed away on June 8, 2023, with his loving family at his side. He was born in Bridgeport CT, to the late James and Gertrude Gallick, and was a lifelong Stratford resident.
With the premature death of his father, as the oldest of 5 children, Jim took on the responsibility of keeping their extended family together. He worked from the age of 12 yet managed to graduate from Stratford High School and still achieve success as an accomplished athlete (football). As the Korean War broke out, he voluntarily enlisted in The United States Marine Corps. Throughout his life, being a Marine was one of his proudest accomplishments.
Post war, he began a long and notable career in law enforcement. He had found his true passion. He became a Stratford police officer, achieving the rank of Detective. For many years, as a second job, he ran a successful antenna business with his brother Frank. He retired from the Stratford Police after 27 years, and began a second career as a police inspector for the States Attorney’s office. There he spent almost two decades investigating many high profile cases. Jim loved police work. He was described by his colleagues as “one tough cop”, “a true legend”.
Above all he was a true family man. He loved Ann, and adored his children and grandchildren. From annual family vacations, to hosting holiday gatherings where all were welcome, his family meant the world to him. Humble, sincere and generous, he always put others first. His pleasures were simple ones. He had a passion for trains, country music, Notre Dame football, UConn women’s basketball, cookies, pastries, and a good cup of coffee.
Survivors include his three daughters, Linda and her husband Peter, Tracy and her husband Rick, and Bonnie and her husband James; along with three cherished grandchildren, Paige, James and Jared.
