Obituary for Jane Ellen (Dunphy) Tierney
Jane Ellen (Dunphy) Tierney, age 86, of Stratford, beloved wife of the late John J. "Jack" Tierney, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2016 in Bridgeport Hospital. Mrs. Tierney was born June 9, 1929 in Far Rockaway, NY to Elise and Herbert Dunphy.

Jane left the business world in 1953 to raise a family. She returned to business in 1975 and continued working for MBI in Norwalk for the next 24 years in Accounts Payable and Customer Service. She had a deep faith and found great comfort in it. She loved her family dearly and always enjoyed their time together. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who all called her "Mom Mom," were a constant source of enjoyment and love.  She attended all sorts of activities her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were involved in, be it band, dance or sports. Jane loved to read, knit, arts and crafts, volunteering at flu clinics for many years, was part of Altar Linens Ministry, Shawl Ministry, was a greeter and Eucharistic Minister and was an avid fan of the Lady Huskies.
Jane is survived by her children, Ann Renstrom (Tom), Kathleen Haven (Craig) and Nancy Bannon (Matt); grandchildren, Daniel Renstrom (Lindsay), Sara Renstrom, Jessica Haven, Tierney, Colin and Colleen Bannon; three great-grandchildren, Lucy Grace Renstrom and Kevin and Kaleb Haven; many nieces and nephews; grand-nieces and grand-nephews and best friend Alice "Bub" Nulty.   In addition to her husband Jack, she is predeceased by her parents, four sisters and one brother.Â
Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, April 25, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. by meeting directly at St. Mark's Church, 500 Wigwam Lane, Stratford, CT. Interment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may visit with the family Sunday from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the William R.
