Obituary for Jane Mary Gerrity
Jane Mary Gerrity, 90 of the Lordship section of Stratford, passed away on Monday, May 20, 2013. Jane was born in Athol, Massachusetts to Eusebe and Jennie (LeClair) LaReau. She had three older brothers, Wilfred, Henry and George who all predeceased her. Jane worked as a banquet waitress with Splaver’s Catering in Bridgeport and for many years at her beloved Liedle’s in Stratford. Jane loved animals, especially cats, and her Cockatiel “Gucci”. She loved going to the beach with her “beach buddies” and hanging out at the Lordship Seawall, especially with her longtime friend Lorraine Norton. Jane could often be seen riding her adult tricycle around Lordship and was very happy knowing her granddaughter Jessica is now riding it. Jane was a long-time faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Peace Church where she had been a member of the Rosary Society and was a dedicated volunteer for numerous church events. Jane is survived by two sons, Myles P. Gerrity and his wife Mary of Orlando, FL and Thomas Gerrity and his wife Mady of Lordship (across the street from Jane). She is also survived by four grandchildren: Stephen of Portland, Oregon, Matthew of Orlando, FL, Jessica and Nicholas, also of Lordship. Jane was predeceased by her former husband, Myles M. Gerrity. The family would like to thank everyone for their kindness and help in caring for Jane in her later years, especially the wonderful people at Astoria Park, Vitas Hospice Care and the Bridgeport Hospital Center for Geriatrics. Friends are invited to a Funeral Mass of Christian burial on Thursday, (TOMORROW) May 23, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. by meeting directly at Our Lady of Peace Church, Stratford Road, Stratford. Interment will follow in Saint Michael’s Cemetery, Stratford. All other services are private. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Our Lady of Peace Church.
