Obituary for Joan (Reck) Hannan
Joan Patricia (Reck) Hannan, age 91, of Stratford, beloved wife of the late Arthur C. Hannan, passed away Monday, July 18, 2022, surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Hannan was born on March 12, 1931, in Bridgeport, daughter of the late John and Helen (Fletcher) Reck and had been a lifelong Stratford resident.
Joan was a graduate of the University of Bridgeport with a degree in journalism.
She enjoyed spending her summers with family and friends at the family cottage, and family camping trips. Joan was also very creative and enjoyed painting and arts and crafts.
Survivors include her six children, Patricia O’Keefe and her husband Patrick, Thomas Hannan and his wife Jane, Ruth Thornton and her husband Jeffrey, Katie Dyke and her husband Joseph, Christopher Hannan and his wife Diane and Robert Hannan and his wife Leslie; daughter-in-law, Joanne Hannan; sister, Helen Claire Kay; eighteen grandchildren, Matthew, Joseph, Kristen, Andrew, Benjamin, Thomas, Zachary, Rachel, James, Michael, Daniel, Natalie, Sara, Chloe, Charlie, Sean, Jenna and James; seven great-grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Daniel Hannan, and granddaughter, Kristie.
Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Father Peter Adamski on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. by meeting directly at Saint James Church, 2070 Main Street, Stratford. Interment will follow in Saint Michael's Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call Friday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main Street, Stratford.
