Obituary for John ( Jack ) Joseph Flynn III
FLYNN - John (Jack) Joseph Flynn, 73, beloved husband of Joyce C. (Fedak) Flynn, of Stratford, and son of the late John J. Flynn II and Florence (Descheneaux) Flynn, entered into eternal peace on Saturday, September 15, 2012 in his home. Raised in Bridgeport, he served four years in the U.S. Air Force (SAC) and the 242nd Connecticut National Guard. Mr. Flynn was a retired Bridgeport Police Detective where he served proudly for 21 years including his role as captain of the Bridgeport Police Scuba Diving Team. He continued to serve his community as the Victim Advocate in Superior Court for the State of Connecticut. After moving to Stratford, he served as Harbor Master and was active on the Waterfront Commission. Jack loved the water and could always be found on Russian Beach when weather permitted and the tide was high. Jack had a sincere desire to help anyone and was a friend of 'BILL W' for several decades. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Joyce Flynn, daughter Jo-Anne Jackson, son-in-law Brian, and beloved granddaughter Meganne of Georgia, brother Larry Flynn and sister-in-law Audrey, nephew Bill Flynn, niece Lori Montoni and her husband Chris, and their daughters Amanda & Theresa.  Sister-in-law Janet Gillick, her husband Marty, niece and goddaughter Mary Kemmesis and her husband Kurt, nephew Joseph Gillick, wife Anne and their children Katie and Danny. He is also survived by niece and nephew Kim Fedak and Kevin Fedak. He loved his family and was always grateful for the special relationships he developed with several friends over the years and considered them as his extended family, especially Kerry Meehan. Jack attended Our Lady of Peace church where he was an usher. Jack was a member of the Bridgeport PBA, Sick Benefit, State Police Association, Lordship Fathers' Club, Life member of Port 5, and The American Legion. Family and friends are invited to attend his funeral with Police Honors on Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at 10:00 am in Our Lady Of Peace Church, Lordship. Internment with Police and Military Honors will follow in Saint Michael's Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 pm in the William R.
