Obituary for John J. Georgette
John J. “Red” Georgette, age 94, of Stratford, beloved husband of Gloria (DeRosa) Georgette, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2015 in his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Stratford, November 28, 1920, son of the late Antonio Georgette and Marianna (Costantini) Georgette, he was a lifelong area resident. John graduated from the Connecticut State Trade School and served in the United States Marine Corps, serving in the First Marine Expeditionary Force as a Scout Sniper in the South Pacific during WWII. He was a member of Post 9460 VFW of Stratford and St. James Roman Catholic Church for 94 years. As a Master Electrician and Contractor, he owned and operated John J. Georgette Electrical and Glo Electric. John was also a Master Wood Craftsman and enjoyed furniture building and restoration. John loved to travel and visited all of the 50 U.S. state capitals, Canada, France, Italy and Mexico. John was also an accomplished photographer and gardener. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, James A. Georgette, PharmD of Sarasota, FL and David L. Georgette and wife Barbara of Beacon Falls; two daughters, Laura G. Dautel and husband Eric of Stratford and Mary M. Georgette, LMFT of Derby; an older sister, Marie Lockshire of Stratford; grandchildren, Carrie Ann Stephen, Christopher John Dautel, Nathaniel Georgette, Joshua David Georgette, Corinne Lea Georgette; one great-grandson, Declan Georgette and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a son John J. Georgette, Jr.; two sisters, Annie and Lucille and two brothers, Joseph and Albert. Friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at 8:00 a.m. from the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St., Stratford, CT and at 9:00 a.m. in St. James Church, Stratford, CT for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery with full Military Honors. Visitation with the family will be Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
