Obituary for John 'Jack' Mann
John “Jack” J. Mann, age 80 of Stratford, entered eternal life April 11, 2014 in Bridgeport Hospital. Born in Bridgeport August 22, 1933 son of the late Willard R. and Bertha Flynn Mann, Jack was a lifelong Stratford resident. He served in the Korean War with the U.S. Army and received his BS Degree and Master's Degree from the University of Bridgeport. He was Social Director for 3030 Park, Bridgeport and Atria, Stratford. He was also employed at Raybestos Stratford where is was active with the Raybestos Brakettes. He was member of the Gaelic American Club. Jack was an avid bowler, ice skater and gardener. He is survived by his sister Patricia Persson and her husband David of Shelton; nieces and nephews Sheila Persson, Gail Tibbetts, Glen Persson, Cherri Novak, Leslie Watton, Christine Turner, Mary Fay Scuilla, Raymond Persson, Daniel Persson and Edward Persson; many great nieces and great nephews and a special fond nephew Patrick Cooney and his children Kaylee, Patrick, Hunter and Reilly. His is predeceased by a brother Willard Persson and nephew David Persson. Friends are invited to attend his funeral on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at 9 am from the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St., Stratford and at 10 am in St. Margaret Mary Church, 380 Long Hill Ave., Shelton for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment in Riverside Cemetery, Shelton. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jack's memory to The Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas, 66675.
