John T. Keating, age 88, of Stratford, beloved husband of the late Burdina (Robichaud) Keating, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 27, 2017, in the Water's Edge Health Care Facility, Middletown. John was born in Bridgeport on February 29, 1928, the youngest son of Thomas James Keating and Florence Hayes Keating and was a life time area resident.
John was retired as engineer with Perkin Elmer and was on the team that worked on the lens for the Hubbell Space Telescope. He was also involved with the community's children's sports programs, including Pop Warner Football and the Our Lady of Peace basketball teams and was an active member of VFW Post 10201 in Brookfield, CT.
Survivors include his three loving children, James Keating of Naples, Florida, Patricia Georgette and her husband Greg of Stratford, Rosemary Tyrrell and her husband Thomas of Middletown and his daughter-in-law Judith Keating of Milford. He could not have been more proud of his seven beloved grandchildren, Brett Keating and his wife Colleen, Sean Keating and his wife Courtney, Joseph Georgette and his wife Stacy, Allison Georgette, Connor Tyrrell and his wife Amy, Shane Tyrrell and Michaela Rose Tyrrell. Visits with his five great-grandchildren, Simon, Gavin, Hanna, Benjamin and Evelyn brought him much joy. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their children.
