Obituary for Josephine Gravel
GRAVEL - Josephine (Smith) Gravel, age 55 of Bridgeport, beloved wife of the late James Gravel entered eternal life Monday, January 13, 2014 in Bridgeport Hospital. Mrs. Gravel was born October 21, 1958 in Bridgeport, daughter of the late Joseph and Angeline (Guerrera) Smith and had been a lifetime area resident. She was a waitress for several local diners including, Tiffany’s, Highway Diner, Bridgeport Flyer and The State Diner. She loved painting and all types of arts and crafts. She will be sadly missed by her friends and family. Survivors include her son, Sean Gravel, two brothers Joseph and Edward Smith: four sisters, Barbara, Lucille, and Angeline Smith and Hazel Markino; her Godson, Brian Banacowski and his wife Rebecca; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two sisters, Natalie and Catherine. Friends are invited to attend a celebration of Josephine’s life on Friday January 24, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St, Stratford. Friends may visit with the family Friday before service time from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Interment will be private. The family would like to thank all of Josephine’s friends who have donated to her service and the William R. McDonald Funeral Home which has donated their services. However there still remains some unavoidable unpaid funeral expenses. Therefore, in lieu of flowers donations would be appreciated and will be accepted through the funeral home.
