Obituary for Julia Stearns
Julia Stearns, age 87, recently from Milford and previously from Stratford, beloved wife of the late Leonard Stearns, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, watching her UCONN Huskies women's basketball game on Saturday, February 28, 2015 after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. Born in Bridgeport on November 21, 1927, the daughter of the late Antonio and Jennie (Baffaro) Petrizzi, Julia was a resident for 59 years of Lordship and retired from Trim Fashions. Julia was an avid fan of UCONN basketball, the NY Yankees and the NY Giants. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother of which she was so proud to be and she will truly be missed. She is survived by her children, David Stearns and his wife Eileen of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Diane D'Antonio and her husband Mario of Massapequa, NY and Karen Donovan and her husband Colin of Milford; her cherished grandchildren, Todd Stearns, Brad Stearns and his wife Rebecca and Jake Stearns and his wife Melissa, Jason D'Antonio and his wife Elisabeth, Allison D'Antonio, Matthew Donovan, Melissa Carbone and her husband Eric and Christopher Donovan; great grandchildren, Nicholas D'Antonio and Tyler and Juliana Carbone; her brother Anthony (Sonny) Petrizzi and his wife Sandy and many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her grandson, Mark Roman and her three sisters, Phyliss Kunin, Mary Baxter and Madeline Leary. Friends are invited to attend her funeral on Friday, March 6, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. from the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St., Stratford and at 10:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Peace Church, Lordship. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery, Stratford.
