Serving Our Community Since 1951She was raised in Stratford and spent most of her adult life living in Bridgeport. She graduated from St. Joseph's High School, Boston College and Fairfield University. Kathy was a dedicated and cherished school teacher and administrator in the Stratford School System, teaching at Stony Brook, Wilcoxson and Stratford Academy. She later became the testing and data collection coordinator for the district. Kathy's hobbies were softball, tennis, golf, and reading, especially science fiction. As a member of the Fairchild Wheeler Golf Club she was proud to have been the most improved golfer in 1992, Club Champion in 1993 and Runner-Up in 1994. She was also a great lover of poker and enjoyed many happy moments at casinos in Las Vegas, Atlantic City and in CT.
Her biggest passion, though, was her family and friends whom she loved with her heart and soul. Parents Isabelle and Jack, and her beloved spouse Rosemary Ferrara predeceased Kathy.
She is survived by her sister Jeri and her husband Bill, her brother John and his wife Cindi, and her nieces and nephews Kerry (Jason and son Darby), John (Nicole), Molly, Crystal (Josh) and Wade, as well as Rosemary's mother Mary, her siblings Marilyn, Dolores, John and Tom, and her many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, August 7, 2016 from 4-7 pm at the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St, Stratford, CT 06615. Services will take place Monday, August 8, 2016 at 9:30 am in the McDonald Funeral Home and 10:30 am Mass at St. James Church, 2110 Main St, Stratford, CT 06615. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
Kathy was an avid reader and passionate about passing down her love of literature to future generations. This organization supports literacy for mothers and children of the local community.
