Obituary for Lawrence A. Spigarolo
Lawrence A. Spigarolo, age 92, beloved husband of Ruth Marie (Couture) Spigarolo of Bridgeport, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2013 with his family at his side. Born and raised in Bridgeport, son of the late Frank and Mary Spigarolo, he resided there all his life. He was a World War II Combat Veteran who served in the South Pacific. Upon his discharge he opened the Ash Street Body Shop in 1949 until his retirement in 1980. Lawrence was fondly known as the “Ash Street Mayor” and was a member of VFW Post 145. Survivors, in addition to Ruth, include a daughter Laurie Farrell of Bridgeport; a brother Norman and his wife Norma Spigarolo of Shelton; grandchildren and their spouses Larry and Colleen Farrell, Kim and Anthony Caggiano and Brian and Rashann Farrell; great grandchildren Mikayla and Samantha Farrell, Dylan and Aiden Caggiano and Lorenzo and Kingston Farrell; many nieces and nephews; a cousin Donald Spigarolo and the extended Spigarolo family, as well as the Couture family members. He is predeceased by a sister Josephine Wood and his step-mother Dina Spigarolo. Friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Andrews Church, 435 Anton St., Bridgeport, CT. Interment in St. Michael's Cemetery, 2205 Stratford Ave., Stratford with full Military Honors. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Vitas Hospice Care, 99 Hawley Lane, Stratford, CT 06614.
